Tips For Preparing For A Large Party

Whether you are having a huge family party or a corporate party, preparing for a big party can be daunting. There are so many plans to make, and often you can’t even get all of the planning done until everyone has RSVP’d, which is why it is important to have a definitive RSVP date when you do invites.

Nothing will ruin a big party faster than not having enough food or drinks for the people that showed up. Another bad thing would be having too much space for too little guests, or too little space for too many guests.

Finding The Right Venue

Depending on how popular your preferred venue is for this large party, you may need to secure the venue before you really know how many people are actually going to show up. Then you may run into the too big for the people that showed, but you want to make sure it’s big enough to house everyone that could possibly show up. Too big is better than too small when it comes to venues.

You may also want to make sure the venue is in a central location to make it easy to get to for everyone invited. Consider the people that have to travel from a distance.

Creating The Right Decor

Depending on the type of party you are hosting, you also need to consider the venue when it comes to decorating. If it’s a strictly business affair you may only need some promotional gift bags and maybe a sign to hang stating the name of the business. However, if it’s a wedding reception you are going to want to have some fancy centerpieces, streamers and more.

Find a venue that fits the look that you want your decor to have. You don’t want to plan a modern fancy wedding in a log cabin!

Preparing The Food

Parties mean food, and the larger the party, the more food you are going to need. Unless you have a large professional oven in your home where you can bake hundreds of cupcakes at once, you may want to have your event professionally catered. This is also a great idea if you’re not that great of a cook.

Also, depending on the kind of food you’d like to have at the party, you can choose different caterers. Not all catering services may provide all kinds of cuisine, so it is important that you contact the right caterers for the kind of food you want. Since you are likely to know the taste buds of your guests, you could choose whatever you think they would enjoy the most. For example, if it’s a good dose of fast food that your guests (and you) will be looking forward to, you could opt for a subs catering service who can provide party subs (submarine sandwiches) and salads.

Not everyone is an expert cook or baker, but there are experts out there to help those that aren’t. You will need to know how many guests are going to be in attendance before you order food though. You don’t want to have too little and not be able to feed everyone. And, you don’t want to have too much and create a lot of waste.

Planning a great party takes some work, and planning a big one takes even more. Be prepared and make sure you have enough for everyone, including enough space!
